Each month, the Amalgamated Locksmiths’ blogging team bring you the crime stats for a different Melbourne suburb. This week, we will look at Collingwood’s Crime Statistics.
Our information is compiled from Crime Statistics Victoria (CSV), the government department responsible for the publication of crime statistics since 2013.
Collingwood is a young, thriving community with plenty of cafes, boutique shops, bars and restaurants. Only 3 kilometres from the CBD, this inner city suburb has a bustling nightlife that attracts people from all areas of Melbourne.
It also offers a family friendly atmosphere with local parks, it’s walking or riding distance to the city and is easily accessible by public transport.
Let’s look at how the crime stats are doing since the last time we reported on them.
Recent Collingwood Crime Stats
- Theft (1063 offences)
- Breaches of Justice Orders (181 offences)
- Burglary/ Breaking and Entering (174 offences)

These statistics show that since our last review of Collingwood in 2017 there has been a significant increase in theft. It is unclear why theft has increased so substantially over the past two years, however factors such as increase in popular, housing or influx of tourists into the area may be taken into consideration.
