Ever wondered where your money is going when you pay for a locksmith? We explain what our locksmith prices cover.

Every locksmith job includes a variety of costs. Your fee may include some of the charges below. This is a basic indication of some of the elements that may be incorporated into your locksmith fee. We always prepare quotes and invoices that explain your exact costs in detail.

Product

If you are having locks or security alarms installed, your fee will include the price of these products. This will include the keys or other accessories that go with them.  Any written quote will detail the product costs alongside any installation services so you can be clear on the charges that will be incurred.

Locksmith wages

Our locksmiths are highly skilled trained experts, and their wages reflect their expertise. We only hire experienced, qualified locksmiths, because that’s what our customers expect.

Travel

Your fee will include travel time. Depending on your location, the travel to and from your appointment could be considerable. We have many locksmiths out and about across the city of Melbourne. We mostly service the suburbs of Collingwood, Fitzroy, Abbotsford, Carlton, Melbourne CBD, North Melbourne, South Melbourne, Northcote, Preston, Carlton, Brunswick, Coburg and Richmond. So, we can appoint your job to the closest available locksmith and hopefully reduce the travel costs.

After hour emergency, weekend and public holiday surcharges

We charge extra for emergency jobs, because we have to adjust our schedule and rearrange our bookings to accommodate emergencies. On weekends or public holidays we need to have our locksmiths on call in case a problem crops up.  We always confirm fees in advance before your job is booked so you don’t get a surprise invoice.

Callout charges

Most jobs include a basic service call charge to cover our travel and time spent on the job. This will be the basic fee, and any extra services or products may incur additional charges. Of course, any extra costs will be explained to you in advance.

Your fee includes our expertise

You might see a locksmith finish a job very quickly and think – “I’m paying a lot for just five minutes!” But if a locksmith is fast on the job it means he or she is very experienced and skilled. That skill comes with years of training, on the job experience and having the right tools on hand. Lock technology is continually advancing. So, every locksmith working for us must continue to update their skills so they are familiar with the latest products on the market. That is an investment in value for you the customer.
